Journey To Cythera 1984
Plot Synopsis
This first chapter in the Trilogy of Silence is yet another masterpiece. Using the Homeric myth of Odysseus as a base, in which he sets sail again after reaching Ithaca, this film-within-a-film is a complex, dream-like meditation about an old Civil War veteran's return from exile. Told through the eyes of his son, a film-maker, this is a profoundly poetic account of one man's inability to reconcile with his homeland, as well as the existential rift rendered by the changing times.
